Warren has been studying music from West Africa for the last twenty years playing a variety of instruments from traditional Malinke dundun, djembe and bolon to Wolof sabar drums such as chiole, lambe, mbeung mbeung, and tama as well as modern electric bass. Warren has spent time in Senegal and Guinea in order to understand the cultural relevance of West African music and bringing an authentic "feel" to his performance. He has also studied in Canada under a variety of world renowned percussion masters such as Mamady Kieta and Famadou Konate. His passion for representing the true spirit of these cultures speaks through his playing.
A celebrated soloist and master djembe player from Guinea, Alseny Michel Diallo and Marafani offers audiences a chance to dance, be joyful and revel in the African way of music as a vital and fundamental part of everyday life.
